M.Sc Chemistry
Our Department started in the year 2012-13 and is affiliated to VSK University of Ballari. The department of chemistry consists of well equipped with five independent laboratories (semi-micro, organic, physical inorganic, and PG Lab) and also, we have analytical grade chemicals, sophisticated instruments such as Flame Photometer, UV-visible spectrophotometer, Muffle furnace, Potentiometer, conductrometer, etc.
The department of chemistry having well qualified and experienced teaching faculties, and they have poses post-doctoral, and industrial experience in various institutions. Seven teaching faculties are there in the department, among them 03 are Ph.D. degree holders and four are M.Sc. and B.Ed. qualified. The department conducts the invites the subject expert from various universities to deliver a talk on a subject related.
During course studies, postgraduate students have carried out their M.Sc. projects work for the partial fulfillment of their master’s degree in collaboration with different laboratories, Colleges, and Universities such as IICT Hydrabad, Soniya Educational Trust of M. Pharmacy College, Dharwar, University of Agricultural Sciences, Dharwar. During their course studies, students have attended different Conferences, Seminars, lecture series and interacted with eminent Scientists, Professors, and Resource persons from various places. Along with their studies, students actively participate in departmental and college activities to showcase their talents. Our students visit the industrial and research institution as a part of the study tour every year because it helps the students to orient themselves to higher education/ inculcate the research interest. M.Sc. Computer Science :
The Department of Computer Science was established in the year 1993. Starting with B.Sc. Computer Science in the year 1993, the Department was extended to M.Sc. Computer Science in the year 2001. The Department had another feather to its cap when it opened BCA Course in the year 2007. The primary goal of the department is to prepare well-learned postgraduates who can become excellent professionals.
Till date we have achieved 100% results. During 2005-06 and 2007-08 our students secured 1 st Rank with Medals in M.Sc. We have two well-equipped laboratories. Campus placement takes place every year. In addition to the main library of the college, the department has a separate dedicated library for Computer Science students. Professional from industries deliver guest lectures so that the students come in touch with the industry. The department library has Internet facility for students accessing educational material. All the staff is qualified and experienced.

M.Com. (Master of Commerce)
The Department of Commerce was established in Vijayanagar College Hospet in the year 1964. The Department of Commerce and Management of Vijayanagar College is running B.Com., BBM and M.Com. Courses. There are more than 1000 B.Com. Students and more than 180 BBM students in July 2010, Master of Commerce (M.Com.) was introduced with the students strength of 25.
The Department has good infrastructure, highly qualified and experienced staff. Computer laboratory with Internet facility is provided to all the students. Department library has latest book, Journals, magazines, Management Learning CDs. Individual care for students personality development is the top priority. The department has secured 100% result with many first classes and distinctions. Placement cell in the campus provides a career boost to the students.

A Candidate with minimum 50% marks in aggregate at B.Com. BBM, BCS degree Course from recognized University.
Duration of the Course :
The Course study is of two years duration. Each year consisting of two semesters. The course study shall be consisting of 20 subjects spread over four semester.
M.A. English
English courses have been a part and parcel of the college for a long time now. In 1981 Additional English was introduced in all the courses to encourage students of all linguistic backgrounds. Optional English was introduced in 1994 as the demand for this course gained momentum when there was dearth of English teachers from high school to P.G. Level. The department grew from strength to strength with increasing number of students in this course. Many students stand witness to the benefit they derived by opting for this course. Of late there has been demand from parents for a P.G. Course in this discipline.
Having succeeded so far, we decided to introduce P.G. in English from 2013-14. In keeping with the trend, an English language laboratory has been established so that our English students may hone their language skills. There are more than 1600 English books which will be of immense use to students of P.G. There is a separate P.G. Library with subscription to national and international literary magazines. We have experienced faculty to guide the students.

M.A. Economics
The Department of Economics was established in the year 1964. It is as old as the College. Since the beginning of the department, it has conducted Conferences, Seminars, Workshops. The Department has also arranged special Lectures on Economics related issues for the Students to upgrade their contemporary knowledge in Economics related issues for the Students to upgrade their contemporary knowledge in Economics. For every academic year, more than 1500 students have been opting for ‘Economics’ in BA and B.Com courses
‘Economics’ is one of the key subjects in the social sciences since time immemorial keeping all these things in view, we’ve taken a major decision of starting M.A. Economics from 2013-14 academic year itself. Our department is well equipped with highly qualified and experienced faculty and also with an independent library.
