Since 1964-65 Academic year we maintained Degree program in the campus KANNADA as the First Language.

Later in 1972-73, college Introduced OPTIONAL KANNADA for B.A Degree program.

We are successfully maintained OPTIONAL KANNADA for the last 51 years. Basic Kannada as Mother Tongue exists from the beginning Prof.P.Y.Reddy . M.R.Vishwanatha Reddy, S.S.Hiremath, Dr.Basavaraj Malashetty, K.V.Thirupaliah, Itige Eranna, A.S.Rudrappa, Dr. Laxman Karibhimannanavar.M , Dr.Mruthyunjaya Rumale ,Dr.Gadeppa and full-time lecturers ran the department quite successfully.

Now, the permanent and management appointed lecturers are involved in research, criticism and in academic activities. At present, the permanent staff has Doctorate with academic track Records have got State Literary Awards for their research and critical abilities.
