M.A Economics Department

In the year of 2014 the Department of Economics offers Master of Arts in Economics program. The primary focus of the departments is to train policy makers. The students would also get adequate exposure to move into industry, Government service or academics. Our vision is to facilities creativity, innovative, excellent and ethical manpower with quality leadership to world who will excel in their professional and personal service to the global community. The department’s mission is to teach and conduct research. Core areas of our research include Agricultural and Natural Resource Economics, Public Finance, Financial Economics, and Industrial Organization.

The department has been catering to students of various disciplines by offering diverse combination of subjects. The department has also been active in encouraging students with analytical and creative use of theory to understand the socio- economic environment .The department offers a Master (Two years) course in Economics (M.A). The department has achieved 4 Ranks from the VSK University Bellary. i.e., 3 students have bagged 1^st Rank with Gold medal and 1 students 3^rd Rank secured.

NEP2020: Implementation of New Education Policy in our education system

The Union cabinet in July 2020 approved the New Education Policy (NEP), which aims at universalization of education from pre-school to university level, so in the academic year of 2021-2022 the department of economics has also adopted the NEP education system for MA I^st year with student’s strength of 8members. According to NEP education system there are 4 major specialization subjects which are given below:

The above subjects are very helpful and beneficial to the competitive world and business environment and governments, and therefore better respond to the threats and opportunities that emerge when things change. Economics majors subjects are well-positioned in an ever-changing world because they have problem solving and analytical skills that allow them to succeed in variety of career paths-law, risk management, finance, foreign affairs ,pubic administration ,politics, policy analysis ,health administration, entrepreneurship ,market analysis, journalism, and unknown careers of the future. The breath and flexibility of an economics degree prepares students to adjust to unexpected changes and take advantage of unexpected opportunities
